I’m intrigued by the expression of eyes and hands. I believe both are the mirrors of one’s deepest inner soul. These paintings reflect a certain state of mind, and are not meant to be portraits of specific people. As I do bring my soul into every painting, this is particularly true for these moods and big faces paintings. I hold an image, an emotion and thought and turn it into colours and forms on a canvas.
I don’t put eyelashes. I think eyes are even more expressive without them. Furthermore, eyelashes being accentuated in the cosmetic industry as ‘beauty ideals’, and often rendering a ‘sexy hint’, I refrain from putting them in because I don’t want my faces and mainly women figures to be perceived as ‘lust objects’. I try to give them the respect they deserve.
Mich fasziniert die Ausdruckskraft von Augen und Händen und ich glaube, dass beide ein Spiegel der Seele einer Person sind. Diese Gemälde stellen eine bestimmte Gefühlslage dar und sind nicht als Portraits spezieller Personen gedacht. Ich bringe meine Seele in jedes Gemälde, und dies gilt ganz besonders für diese Gemälde von Stimmungen und Gesichtern. Ich halte ein Bild, eine Emotion und einen Gedanken fest und verwandle sie in Farben und Formen auf einer Leinwand.
Ich male niemals Wimpern, denn ich finde Augen ausdrucksstärker ohne sie. Da die Wimpern ferner von der Kosmetikindustrie als ‘Schönheitsideale’ hervorgehoben werden und oft einen ‘sexy Touch’ verleihen, lasse ich sie in meinen Werken weg, denn ich möchte nicht, dass meine Gesichter und hauptsächlich die Frauengestalten als ‘Lustobjekte’ wahrgenommen werden. Ich versuche ihnen den Respekt zu geben, den Sie verdienen.
