4 Elements united in a school Art Project

This Autumn, we realized another successful art project at the local basic school. Inspired by nature and the four elements (water, air, earth and fire), we guided 40 children aged 9-10 through 7 weeks of wonderful highly creative weeks. The enthusiasm was big with them and the school staff alike. At the final day, the whole school could enjoy a great presentation about the project by the 40 students themselves!

This project was possible through financial support by the local citizen foundation or Bürgerstiftung Schmitten.

Thank you to all involved, with special thanks to my fantastic colleague Matthias Schmidt – wood sculpture: www.holzgestaltung-m-schmidt.de

Christmas Exhibition in Artnoumillenni Gallery Barcelona December 2021

2 of my ‘VENUS’ paintings are on their way to Artnoumillenni Gallery in Barcelona, to take part in their Christmas Art Exhibition held 15 – 30 December 2021!

The Venus figurines, highly admired prehistoric artifacts, are actually the very first representation of a female figure in an artistic way in human history. Being carved out of limestone, bone or clay during Paleolithic era, these tiny female figures are considered to be the first ‘portable art’, symbolizing fertility, security and success, the mother goddess. Women were prominent in this era, being central parts of the world view of those societies, and therefore of their artists.

I was very much intrigued by this concept and symbolic meaning. I applied ‘earth tones’ with oil paints and Italian marble powder in order to capture the beauty and resilience of these ‘primitive’ stone sculpture figurines. I hope to capture this feeling of pureness and raw beauty, admiring the great spiritual value of this amazing oldest examples of female figurines.
